Did I see an image of God or a crazy person walking along the highway?

This afternoon I saw an old old man with a long white beard that neared his navel. He looked as if he hadn’t seen a shower since before Christ. He was wearing a light blue robe and sandals, and carried a wooden staff with a cross on top. It looked just like you would imagine Moses to have looked back in the day… except he was walking along the highway!

In the California desert in I saw a guy in brown robes, sandals, and long hair. After seeing him for three days in a row I decided he wasn’t a native because he’d worked his way 40 miles from my first sighting. He wasn’t hitchhiking either. On the fourth day I could see he didn’t look well, so I pulled over and offered him a ride. He thanked me and quietly climbed in the car. He asked me if I’d heard about Jesus. I told him I had. He smiled and said that’s great! After a long awkward silence he pulled out a bottle and asked if I was thirsty. I told him no. I offered to buy him food and he told me he didn’t eat meat. I found a fast food place and ordered via the drive through because I couldn’t take him in he smelled like he hadn’t showered in weeks. I offered to let him come to my house to rest. He politely accepted. I gave him some towels and a robe and showed him the shower, then washed his clothes while he cleaned up. I offered him my couch for the night and the next morning he was gone. He left a post-it note that said, “Whatever you do wherever you go God loves you.” He never asked for anything, he accepted charity with dignity. I wonder frequently if he’s ok. This happened in 1990. If he was crazy he was serenely insane. I didn’t offer to put up any homeless people before him or since. I told my brother about him and he told me I could have gotten in real trouble. It was so very odd.
